No More hosting Bobi Wine and Besigye in Media Houses. According to the information we have just received UCC Boss Godfrey Mutabazi warned all media houses that were planning or had planned to host the politician on their stations.
Mutabaazi passed on strict orders to all television and radio stations in Uganda never to host Bobi wine and Dr Kiiza Besigye on their stations.
Our posters at the Bugolobi based commission have revealed that also barred stations from giving any Updates regarding to the Both Controversial Politicians that Failure to Comply, their licenses will be revoked.
According to the UCC, the minimum broadcasting standards prohibit, among other things, broadcast of content that promotes violence and ethnic prejudice, is likely to create public insecurity or violence and is biased.
To make the statement clear UCC today ordered for the suspension of top NBS Television editors, citing a breach of minimum broadcasting standards.
When we reached out to the UJA officials on the whole issue, they have set out a directive to the commission on the Developments, claiming that the Government through her several agencies should RESPECT the rights of the Journalists and desist from the continued harassment of media players and that the UCC withdraws the suspension orders issued to the Media Houses against their staff.
A letter which was directed to the Kamwokya based station cites the station to suspend it’s the head of news Ms. Joyce Bagala, Chris Wanobere the progammes manager and producer Canary Mugume.
Our posters at the station say it is the Bobi Wine protests that landed the trio in trouble.
