As Uganda belatedly celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child at St. Gonzaga Primary School in Buwenge Sub-County Jinja district, Bobi Wine also did so in his constituency Kyadondo East.

Joining, the celebration on Tuesday Kyagulanyi Ssentamu along with his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi had a third skills training for the women in Bulamu parish as part of this year’s celebrations.

“Even in the midst of this mourning period for the boat accident victims, Barbie Kyagulanyi and I took off time and addressed our trainees and appealed to them to put the skills attained to good use. Because we believe that when women are empowered, the nation is empowered” Bobi said

International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day which was declared by the United Nations; it is celebrated on every October 19. However, in Uganda it has been celebrated November 27 on request by government. Its celebration supports more opportunity for girls and increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender.
