It started with Muslim officials who raised an alarm that they were getting threats from unidentified people, then came the late Ibrahim Abiriga who said that he was being tracked by assailants who wanted to end his life but within no time col: Abiriga was killed then came hon: Evelyn Anite who had to flee the country. Now the latest was the list which shocked the nation when prominent politicians, police officers, religious leaders and the Katikiro of Buganda.
The list has 16 names including Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Kyadondo East MP Robert Kagulanyi, Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga, Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Kampala Minister Beti Kamya others on the list are Rubaga North MP Moses Kasibante, deputy police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, former Kampala South Regional Police Commander Siraj Bakaleke, titular head of the Kibuli Muslim sect Prince Kassim Nakibinge and Kibuli deputy mufti Sheikh Mahmudu Kibaate.
Hon: Kasibante told NTV that an unidentified person dropped the list at his home, “When I contacted police, they assured me that they would investigate the matter. Apparently, this case is to be handled by Old Kampala Police Station,” he said.
However, Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima said precautionary measures will be undertaken to protect the people on the list. “We will ensure that we protect them. We also ask them to be cautious of their personal security and safety. Our commanders in their respective areas will have an engagement with each of them to share information in view of protecting them,” Mr Kayima said in an interview with NTV.
