South African based tycoon Charles Mbibo famously known as Cameroon Gitawo has distanced himself from claims that he was involved in a racket that saw another Ugandan conned of $45,000 (sh200m) in a botched car supply deal.
The news comes after the arrest Jeff Nwase on claims that he obtained money from a one Bashir Semakula by false pretense.
He (Jeff) claimed to have worked closely with Cameroon Gitawo, who is presently in South Africa and after they got paid, they switched off their known contacts. This prompted Bashir Semakula to lodge a case at Central Police Station (CPS) KMP GEF 237/2018.
In an exclusive interview, Gitawo said, “If he is demanding the said money from me, why is he doing it after one year and a half? Why is he doing it after he heard I was coming to Uganda? I’m going to sue him for tarnishing my name. I have sold tons of cars to Ugandans with no complaints. He just wants to spoil my name. I wonder who is using him.” Gitawo fumed.
We have since learnt that Jeff wrote an agreement at Police and agreed to pay Semakula $20,000 (Sh78m) of the said money before he was released on police bond
