Pius Bigirimana  was nominated by national social security fund to be one of the board members of UMEME but he was rejected by the majority of members with claims that he was still undergoing investigations on corruption charges. This happened in may at UMEME’s last general meeting that was held at Sheraton hotel.

Our sources at state house told us that The President ordered the  Minister of finance hon Matia  Kasaija to “ensure” that Mr Bigirimana is appointed on the board, and also to investigate the circumstances under which he was rejected.

In a letter which was addressed to the minister, the president said that he was recently petitioned by a group of workers under their umbrella organisation  the national organisation for trade unions , and protested the rejection of bigirimana.

Bigirimana’s rejection shocked many being it that he was appointed by the NSSF who are the biggest share holders with UMEME.
